I Must Know Him

It is time for us to meet the Lord in a new way. I believe it will be to such an extent that we will feel like we never really knew Him or heard Him before compared to what is coming now when we see Him on another level.

When Job encountered the Lord, he responded,

“I know that You can do all things,
And that no purpose of Yours can be thwarted. ‘Who is this that hides counsel without knowledge?’
Therefore I have declared that which I did not understand,
Things too wonderful for me, which I did not know. ‘Hear, now, and I will speak;
I will ask You, and You instruct me.’ I have heard of You by the hearing of the ear;
But now my eye sees You; Therefore I retract,
And I repent in dust and ashes.” (Job 42:2–6)[1]

This passage just came alive to me during a time of waiting on the Lord and meditating before Him. What Job went through may have been satanically initiated, but God allowed it. Likewise, we know that nothing happens to us without God allowing it. And if He allows it, it is because He is trying to teach us, impart to us, and bring us to a new place. Christ wants to bring us out of our blindness and into the light of knowing Him.

We have studied the Scriptures and been taught a lot about the Word of God. But there is an experience we can have where we behold the Lord. Moses had that experience on the mountain where he beheld the Lord and stood in His presence (Exodus 34:29). It opened a whole new life for Moses as he continued praying in the Tent of Meeting.

Thus the LORD used to speak to Moses face to face, just as a man speaks to his friend. When Moses returned to the camp, his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, would not depart from the tent. (Exodus 33:11)

God spoke to Moses just as a man speaks with his friend, and it was not just a one-time experience on Mount Sinai. Moses had seen the Lord in a blazing fire from the midst of a bush (Exodus 3:2). He had seen the Lord perform miracles (Exodus 14:21–22). And Moses had heard the voice of the Lord speaking to him and directing him in many things. But it was a different world when he beheld the Lord.

We should open our hearts to this experience of beholding Him. Do not be hung up by the past. Whatever you have been through, realize that God has been dealing with your heart and preparing you for this time. It is like what Mordecai told Esther, “Who knows whether you have not attained royalty for such a time as this?” (Esther 4:14).

We have lived with Paul’s cry, “That I may know Him” (Philippians 3:10). And there is a knowing of Him that can only come by beholding Him and being changed into His image (2 Corinthians 3:18). It is the cry of our hearts to really know Christ on another level. We should believe for His appearings. We should believe to see Him with our eyes and behold Him in a new way on a new level. Lord, we have heard of You with our ears, but now we want our eyes to behold You.
