The source of all God’s authority and power is simply His great love. It is the root element of God’s weaponry against satan, whereas the root element of satanic weaponry is the opposite of love. So you are dealing with two ends of the pendulum here. And just like any other fight, you know that one person is going to win, and one person is going to lose. In oversimplistic terms you can say that everything that has been happening in the world for millennia has been a gigantic battle between God and satan. So understand that the power, the authority, and all the energy behind what God is doing operates by the simplicity of His love, which is the most powerful force in the universe.
If we are going to enter into what God is doing, then we need to focus on our connection to the source of that energy in order to make things happen. That is where the battle begins. Paul prayed for the Ephesians that the eyes of their heart might be open to perceive the riches of the glory and the surpassing greatness of God’s power that is exerted toward those who believe:
These are in accordance with the working of the strength of His might which He brought about in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come. And He put all things in subjection under His feet, and gave Him as head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all. (Ephesians 1:19–23)[1]
It is important to recognize the force behind what God did in raising Christ from the dead. By the force and strength of His love, the Father reached down through death to bring Christ back out of the grave.
The only way satan can effectively deceive you is to create a doubt in your mind that disconnects you from the Father’s great love for you. The reason God’s Word can never fail is because His love for you is true. When you get into a situation and say, “I doubt the Word,” you are not really doubting the Word. Rather, you are questioning, “Does God really love me?” As soon as you doubt God’s love, you cut yourself off from the force of its power and from your ability to exercise that power. One of the easiest ways to draw someone into a fight is by virtue of his own lack of self-confidence. If you do not trust something, you are constantly being maneuvered into a position of testing it. And testing it is proof of your doubt.
Everything in God has its foundation in love, and you must recognize that the love of God is the greatest expression of energy in the universe. It will unleash a far greater force than whatever is coming against you. If you can remain locked into the true power of that energy, you will be the winner. Nothing is more powerful than the love of God for us. Nothing can separate us from His love (Romans 8:35–39). That is the power source: “We have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us” (1 John 4:16). Never mistrust God’s love for you.
