You Are Important

One of the most difficult things for us to accept is that individually we are important and what we do matters. It is easy to minimize ourselves and our worth and our ability. But according to God’s plan, you are important; without you, His plan does not work.

Everything in the Bible started with individuals. We see that with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. But then in the will of God, their descendants became a people. After Solomon consecrated the Temple, the Lord responded, “If … My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven” (2 Chronicles 7:13–14).[1] God is looking for a people, a Kingdom of priests and a holy nation (Exodus 19:6).

The book of Acts illustrates the importance of individuals who have become one. It records an amazing prayer in chapter 4. Peter and John had healed a lame man sitting by the Temple. Then they were arrested, taken before the officials, and told to stop spreading the gospel or praying in the name of Yeshua (Jesus). After being released, Peter and John went back to their companions and reported all that had happened.

And when they heard this, they lifted their voices to God with one accord [they were all doing this together] and said, “O Lord, it is You who MADE THE HEAVEN AND THE EARTH AND THE SEA, AND ALL THAT IS IN THEM, who by the Holy Spirit, through the mouth of our father David Your servant, said,
‘WHY DID THE GENTILES RAGE,
AND THE PEOPLES DEVISE FUTILE THINGS?

THE KINGS OF THE EARTH TOOK THEIR STAND, AND THE RULERS
WERE GATHERED TOGETHER AGAINST THE LORD AND AGAINST HIS CHRIST.’” (Acts 4:24–26)

The entire assembly continued to voice this prophetic prayer together.

Then jump down to verse 31.

And when they had prayed, the place where they had gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak the word of God with boldness.

That level of power in oneness is where we should be right now. So we must recognize the importance of what we bring individually into the spirit world through our faith and prayer. The Scripture says they all began to speak the Word of God with boldness. Think about that. It was not just the apostles. They were all anointed and filled with the Holy Spirit. And because of this power in the oneness of what each individual was doing, the place was shaken.

Then look at verse 33.

And with great power the apostles were giving testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and abundant grace was upon them all.

This amazing reality was the foundation of the early Church. Where did that power go? We can get back to this great power by individually waking up and realizing, “I am that important!” You must recognize who you are in God and what God has done in creating the Body of Christ. We are all connected. And without each individual giving his or her specific piece, something is missing. It is like the physical body where each cell actually produces electrical power. The body functions only because each cell in the body is doing its part.

Without you, the Body of Christ does not function. It needs the anointing that you bring. If you withhold the portion that you have, you are taking away from Christ Himself. Without our individual functioning, there is no power to change this age. It requires you. Do not forget how important you are.
