Your Intercession Will Create the New Day

Intercession is one of the greatest expressions of the Holy Spirit through us, so do not let it go dormant. The highest level of prayer and intercession you can have is to pray in tongues by the Holy Spirit because then you are not praying out of your own thinking or understanding. Your mind may be unfruitful, but your spirit prays and is effective (1 Corinthians 14:14).

Part of the crossover of heaven coming into the earth is that you begin to speak a language that is from heaven. “These signs will accompany those who have believed: … they will speak with new tongues” (Mark 16:17).[1] Paul calls it the tongue of angels (1 Corinthians 13:1). Your mind does not understand it; but your spirit does understand, and something begins to quicken in your human spirit. If the Body of Christ wants to be effective as a prophetic community, we must come to another level of spiritual expression. And this new level of spirituality begins with speaking in tongues.

I encourage you to spend some time with this every day. Start with just five or ten minutes. Get alone by yourself and begin to speak and intercede in tongues. That is true intercession. By faith we understand that the ages are framed by the Word of God (Hebrews 11:3, KJV). That does not mean that we have to understand the words, but it does mean that by our intercession in the Spirit, we are literally creating the new day.

When we look at current events in the world around us, what is going on in the White House, in the Senate, or on Wall Street, we realize that all these different realms are being shaken. However, let us not pretend that we know the answers. We do not know who is guilty or who is innocent, and we do not know what God wants to do about it. God is doing so much that we do not understand. We do not know how to pray as we ought to pray, but the Spirit prays for us with groanings too deep for words (Romans 8:26). The Spirit prays in us and through us, and the expression of that prayer is in heavenly tongues. As you do this, know that you are interceding according to the will of God.

The Spirit knows everything that God wants to do. All you have to do is be a vessel for the expression of the Holy Spirit, who is a Person in you and with you and around you. Without your vocal cords, the Holy Spirit does not have a voice in this natural realm. You give the Holy Spirit His voice. So do you see how important you are in this process? We are to “pray at all times in the Spirit” (Ephesians 6:18). As we do this, we literally begin to take authority over things, and we are praying for the perfect will of God to be done.

Wherever you see division, start speaking or worshipping in tongues. As you learn to pray in the Spirit, you will build yourself up in the most holy faith (Jude 1:20). That is one of the greatest things you can do for your spiritual health and welfare, especially in this atmosphere of division that is hitting our nation in an amazing way. As we exercise this gift of speaking in the heavenly languages, we will see tremendous outpourings of the Holy Spirit upon the Body of Christ and everything will change.
